Journey Home

Today we had a very early start, meeting in the lobby at 4:20am to make our 6:55 flight to Amsterdam. I am not much of a morning person, so I am never awake to see the sunrise. This morning, however, I got a chance to take some pictures as the sky outside Vienna turned various shades of purple and orange.

When we arrived at the airport, we checked in and bid farewell to our amazing tour guide, Octavian. We were so lucky to have such amazing guides during this trip. Flavia and Octavian have truly become a part of our honors family during these last two weeks.

After an easy flight, which included some odd cheese sandwiches, we landed in Amsterdam: famous for tulips, windmills, and clogs. There were even several tulip stands in the airport!

Following a layover, we boarded our long flight to Detroit. Luckily, the plane’s movie library was extraordinarily well stocked and I spent my ride watching 4 different movies. The flight itself was smooth, with the exception of the descent, and included two meal services. The ravioli was actually really good. Now we are in Detroit, awaiting the last flight to Memphis.

This has been an amazing trip and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in this experience! My favorite memories from the trip include spray painting on the John Lennon Peace Wall in Prague and going to the thermal baths in Budapest during our free time. My favorite city was Budapest. It was overflowing with great food and beautiful scenery. That being said, there is not a single city on this trip that I would not go back to in a heartbeat. They were each amazing in their own unique way.
